Mattress Cleaning
Why clean your mattress?
The mattress is arguably one of the dirtiest items that we have contact with. Each of us spends around one third of our lives sleeping on mattresses that are internally dirty and as such, can be potentially dangerous to our health. This is true if a mattress is just a few months or several years old.
Dust mites and bacteria thrive in mattresses, especially in today's warm and cosy homes. Dust mites feed off skeletons of dust mites and dry skin flakes rubbed off during sleep. In sleep we sweat which creates a fertile breeding ground for dust mites and an average mattress will contain two million mites leading to mattresses doubling in weight within a ten year period. When sleeping on mattresses we quite literally inhale constantly the dust mites contained in our mattresses. This situation can at worst aggravate allergies such as Asthma, Eczema and Hayfever and in most situations causes coughing, wheezing and itching eyes, all of which contribute to sleepless nights.
The Mattress Cleaning Process
One way to clean your mattress is to drag it outside and beat it as in the olden days. If you do not feel up to this task FabriClean have a modern and scientific answer to the problem with our three-stage mattress cleaning programme.
- The mattress is treated with our ultra-violet radiation sterilising unit that kills dust mites, bacteria, spores and viruses.
- A high-powered vacuum cleaner with turbo head is used to loosen and remove dirt, dust and mites.
- The mattress is then treated with a highly effective solution to combat bacteria. This uses a disinfectant approved by the medical field.
The whole process takes no longer than an hour per mattress leaving each mattress almost completely dry and quickly ready for use. Annual mattress cleaning is recommended, although anyone suffering from allergies may choose to have mattresses cleaned bi-annually.
